so much for getting the yard done...

So it didn't rain yesterday and I thought "yay, I can get the lawn mowed tomorrow and then it won't be 2 feet tall" well....thats not gonna happen. It rained last night and has been trying to rain today. We have an electric mower and the grass is WET! NOT gonna happen. :( Oh well! BUT for the only 10 mins the sun shone I took a few pictures.

It has FINALLY stopped raining. I took some pictures today. My friend Joann has this gorgeous tree in her yard and she says she couldn't get any good pics so I took a few for her. :D Here they are...

This is a cool purple plant she also has.

Some fave scenery

I love pictures that are bright and colorful. Or show the color of nature. Here are a few I've taken over the last few years.

This is a palm frond at a Mexican sunset. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Red barn near Leduc, Alberta

 A rose. Obviously.

The last berry. This was taken at Writing-On-Stone near Milk River, Alberta

...and they fly north for the summer...

Howdy! I know I said this would be daily but....I forgot. LOL...So I'll post a few of my newly taken photographs. I love nature! Most of the photos I post will either be nature or my son. Today its nature!

Canada Geese. Playing in the 'pond' in a nearby field.

Cat-tail in the swamp behind our house.

The edge of a rain storm. That is NOT blue sky behind it but rather clouds so dense that it looks bright.

A mallard duck pair swimming in the swamp behind out house. I hope they have babies here!

Nice but not perfect

This is one of my favorite 'oops' photos. I took think while driving down the highway. It was mid September and they farmers were harvesting their grain and the harvesting put ALOT of dust in the air. No its not fog. This was zoomed in full. Taken with my HP Photosmart R847. It was a GREAT camera. Wish HP still made them...

B&W

I'd like to share some of my favorite Black & White pictures. Most of these were taken in color and changed to b&w. One thing to think about if you want to take b&w photos. If your camera has the option to shoot in color or b&w, then shoot in color! The software that came with your camera will do a better job at transferring the photo into b&w than your camera will. PLUS you can have the photo in b&w and color. If you only shoot in b&w you can't convert back to color.

So here are my photographs of the day!

Old fence
Shot in color. Even tho the original is very dull due to the landscape and dreary day that it was taken.

Ladybug
Shot in color.

Knotty
This is the knot in the wood of a picnic table.

Henderson Lake
This was shot in color but I love the contrast of the reflection of the trees.

Puddle Walk
I believe this was shot in color as well.

Fernie
Here are some cliffs near Fernie BC. This was shot in color and is just as nice in color as it is in B&W

Gladiolus
This was shot in color as well. The original is very bright pink.

Looking forward to spring

At this time last year my Bleeding Heart was up and blooming, my Hosta was up, my tulips were blooming. This year I see no sign of my Bleeding Heart or Hosta and my tulips are barely up. Spring has barely arrived and its the 5th of May. So I hope it hurries up and warms up cause I really want my flower to grow!
